get to know ms. frescura!
Ms. Frescura is a 2009 graduate of Penn-Trafford High School, a 2012 graduate of Duquesne University, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, and a 2016 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Master's Degree in K-12 School Administration. Ms. Frescura was named "Student Teacher of the Year" from Duquesne's Music Education department. While at PT, Ms. Frescura participated in thirteen choir festivals and was the assistant drum major for the marching band. She placed 1st Chair Soprano 1 at the PMEA All-State Choral Festival during her junior year, allowing her to attend the MENC (now NAfME) All-Eastern Choir festival in Providence, Rhode Island.
Ms. Frescura has also performed under the direction of Eric Whitacre for his concert version of Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Her performance credits include Gianni Schicchi (Nella), Die Zauberflote (Spirit 1), Seussical (Mrs. Mayor), Anything Goes (Mrs. Harcourt), Godspell, and Peter Pan. She was also a two-time soloist for the Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and the runner-up for the Duquesne University Women's Advisory Board Scholarship Competition. She has studied voice with Guy Russo for 4 years and Guenko Guechev for 3 years. In her spare time, she also enjoys playing her flute and piccolo. Ms. Frescura is a member of Westmoreland Choral Society, under the direction of Tom Octave and has been featured as a soloist for several concerts! She also enjoys cantoring for the Diocese of Greensburg and at her churches, Immaculate Conception and Mother of Sorrows.
Ms. Frescura worked as the vocal director for Penn-Trafford Drama Guild's musical productions of Beauty & the Beast, Oliver, Guys & Dolls, and Shrek the Musical (2011-2014) Additionally, she was a long-term substitute teacher in the Upper St. Clair School District, where she taught 1st-4th grade general music and directed the 4th grade musical. This is her 11th year of teaching at Penn-Trafford, and she is thrilled to be in her home school district and home elementary school!! She also enjoys having students from Duquesne University observe her classes as part of their degree requirements, and is looking forward to working with her 10th student teacher this school year!
Ms. Frescura resides in Penn Township! She is the proud momma of two amazing little girls, named Emma (2nd grade) and Kate (1st grade) and an adorable cocker spaniel, named Pepper!! Mrs. Frescura also loves to cook, bake, bike ride, and go tour National Parks with her family!
